Hafr Al-Batin Municipality Introduces HPLC Technology in Its Laboratories to Enhance Food Safety Monitoring

In a proactive step reflecting its commitment to community safety, Hafr Al-Batin Municipality has announced the introduction of the latest High-Performance Liquid Chromatography (HPLC) technology within its advanced laboratories, aiming to strengthen food monitoring and enable early detection of contaminants.

This technology is considered one of the most advanced and accurate laboratory methods worldwide. It is widely used to analyse pesticide residues and chemical contaminants in food samples. The HPLC system can detect pesticide residues at extremely low levels (0.01 mg/kg), making it a key line of defence against chronic poisoning caused by pesticides and chemical pollutants.

Laboratory experts explained that the system enables accurate and rapid sample analysis, with the ability to detect more than 180 compounds in less than half an hour. It also contributes to ensuring that food products comply with international standards and supports food safety by detecting contaminants such as fats, hormones, antibiotics, and heavy metals.

Hafr Al-Batin Municipality confirmed that the adoption of this technology is part of its strategic plan to enhance laboratory monitoring efficiency and protect consumers. The Municipality highlighted that early testing of food samples contributes to strengthening public health and reducing potential risks before products reach consumers.

The Municipality concluded by reaffirming its continued efforts to develop laboratory infrastructure and adopt the latest global technologies, in line with its vision of providing safe and healthy food that meets community expectations and supports sustainable development objectives.
