In celebration of World Heritage Day and coinciding with the Year of Handicrafts 2025, Hafr Al-Batin Municipality organized a distinguished heritage event in collaboration with the Heritage Commission, as part of its efforts to strengthen national identity and highlight authentic cultural heritage.

The event featured a rich programme of cultural and heritage activities, most notably a poetry evening featuring poets Majid bin Odaib and Awad bin Bahlan, who presented works reflecting the beauty of traditional poetry and its connection to the local heritage.

The event also included a discussion session titled "Archaeological Sites in Hafr Al-Batin Governorate", presented by Mr. Fayed Al-Shaaban, Director of the Heritage Commission Branch in the Governorate, who highlighted the most prominent historical landmarks in the governorate and their role in preserving the narrative of place and identity.

Another session titled "Falconry in Hafr Al-Batin" shed light on this deeply rooted heritage practice, featuring falconers Fahad Al-Nami, Mohsen Al-Duhaik, and Mohammed Al-Rashidi. The discussion was moderated by Mr. Abdulmunim Al-Subaie, with participants exploring falconry traditions, hunting practices, and their significance within authentic Bedouin culture.

The event was enriched with live demonstrations of traditional handicrafts representing the depth of Saudi craftsmanship, including Sadu weaving, pottery making, candle making, ring crafting, tar extraction, and embroidery. Craftspeople showcased their skills to visitors, preserving and presenting a deeply rooted creative legacy.

A dedicated heritage corner displayed a collection of traditional artefacts and old tools that reflected the lifestyle of previous generations. The event also featured live Rababah performances, adding an artistic atmosphere that evoked the spirit of the desert and traditional Bedouin life.

This event forms part of Hafr Al-Batin Municipality’s efforts to promote local culture, support craftspeople, and strengthen the community’s connection with its heritage, in alignment with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to preserve and safeguard the Kingdom’s national heritage.
